My Mum has aways had great style when it comes to christmas decorations, so I must admit I have grown up with hate of tinsel and a love of a colour scheme ! With that in mind, I can't wait until I have my own place and start decorating …
For now I admire from a far…
Just a little idea I have been playing around with, simple but effective felt gingerbread men. I took lots of inspiration of pinterest for these but in the end I kept it the simple the better ! I used a running stitch around the edge, added a little padding and a few buttons. Finishing with the ribbon. I know they look a little strange without eyes but I weirdly like them !!
This is my christmas wish list … A girl can dream …
In my third year at university we were on a very tight budget when it came to christmas … This led to a lot of inventive ideas ! We all really wanted a christmas tree but couldn't quite bring ourselves to buying one, as none of us were there for most of December. So I collected a few large boxes that had been left out for recycling by our uni shop, and hand drew to large christmas tree shapes that slotted together. We bought a £1 pack of bubbles which we pinned onto the cardboard and some £2 battery light. A £3 Christmas Tree ….
I have drawn a little pattern to create your own cardboard tree ... This can be scaled up or down ...
1. Sew the large and small triangles right sides together to create a cone.
2. Trim the point and turn the right right way round.
3. Pin the top third to to stop stuffing from filling the hat. Hand sew around the bottom and gather, filling the cone before tying shut the bottom.
4. Sew beard shape onto the cone, I used blanket stitch.
5. Stitch down the hat to the main body.
6. Hand sew around the circle and gather around the cardboard, creating the base.
7. Sew base to santa’s body, hiding the cone opening.
8. Finish with pom pom, eye and mouth details. I also added the little star on the beard for christmasy sparkly ! And final with a pink pastel pencil to create rosy cheeks.
Get your Christmas Jumper on … These are some of my favourites this season …
I wanted a super easy and effective christmas card this year ! So I designed this reindeer and have made a super cute pom pom! This is the Download, if you want you have have ago …
Christmas Advent Bunting ... One on my closest friends can't eat dairy so finding an advent calendar can sometimes be a bit tough ! So that gave me the idea to create this advent bunting !
1m White cotton
1m Christmas Fabric ( I used four long quarters)
Contrasting fabric for number
1m Facing
1/4m Bondaweb
Firstly I iron of facing to the just the christmas fabric before cutting out the triangles.
Next I cut out the following ...
24 x Large Triangle in White Fabric
24 x Large Triangle in Christmas Fabric ( I mixed up four different fabrics )
24 x Small Triangle in White Fabric
24 x Small Triangle in Christmas Fabric ( again I mixed up four different fabrics )
After cut a total of 92 triangle !!! I Iron on Bondaweb to contrasting fabric for the number and drew out 1-24 (remembering to draw/ write them back to front ! )
I laid out the number on top of small christmas fabric triangles. Laying out whole calendar sequence so I could make sure I didn't end up with two of the same pattern next to each other.
(If you don't want to cut out your own number paper chase have theres great felt versions.)
Once I was happy with the line up, I ironed they number all in place.
Once I was happy with the line up, I ironed they number all in place.
Next I stitched around the numbers in a small tight zig zag stitch.
I then stitched the main small triangles to the white small triangles along just the top, to make to pockets of the advent calendar and open out to pressed.
Next I sandwich and stitch the pocket between the a large christmas fabric triangle and large white triangle. Repleting this with every triangle

There was one huge reason I have really got back into reading… My iPad! I bought my mini iPad two years ago and it sparked my enjoyment of reading again… It was easy I could download as any book I wanted and start reading within minutes.
As much as I love this and I can buy as many books as I like, Im feeling the pinch at the moment!Which lead me to rediscovered my local library. I haven't been into a library since being a little girl, but it seem so obvious … FREE BOOKS !
After a bit more delving, I found out about the app Overdive that allows me to borrow books digital thought my library … best of both worlds, free books on my iPad ! The selection is a little small but seems to be growing … Don't get me wrong I will definitely keep buying books, but when feeling a little tight on the money front this is a great option !
